- Lake Living is WildPosted on: 2006-07-27Living on the lake is wonderful until one morning you walk out the door to discover dogs got into your trash (or your neighbors) and it's strewn everywhere. Don't blame the dogs because most likely the villain may be a opossum, raccoon or even a skunk. After all, we live in lake county and wild animals are natural food seekers with the strength to knock over a trash can. Put a locking lid on your trash cans to help eliminate this problem.
The summer heat and the smell of rotting food can attract critters from miles away. Skunks can hide under your deck and other animals will go after what's left over at your grill or campfire. Lids on your trash cans secured with bungee cords can make a difference.
